At this multi-disciplinary networking event we'll hear talks from two physicists about their work and how it could be applicable to the analysis of blood, saliva or other bodily fluids. We'll also hear from a clinician who will highlight the challenges and problems of measuring early detection biomarkers in blood and how they could be addressed by new technologies. The talks will be followed by a panel discussion and an opportunity to network further over drinks and canapes.

Registration is open for the virtual conference 'Mind the Gap: Trailblazing Cancer Prevention', taking place on 31 January 2023. Organised by the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), the programme features a panel of cancer prevention trailblazers sharing their expertise on early detection and cancer vaccines, and insights on the links between epidemiology, genetic risk, and personalised cancer management. A panel discussion will dive into current opportunities for and barriers to effective cancer prevention.

Serena Nik-Zainal (Early Cancer Institute and CUH) was awarded the Royal Society's Francis Crick Medal in 2022. In this lecture, she will describe how her team have explored the extraordinary DNA graffiti that has been seen in human cancers, using a combination of big data computational approaches and systematic experimental methods.

This symposium on patient advocacy will be an opportunity to learn how the involvement of patients and the public can improve research.

The new seminar series from the Early Cancer Institute aims to connect researchers in the early cancer detection and diagnosis space to share knowledge and spark collaboration. Join fellow researchers for lunch and an opportunity to network.
