This free event, hosted by the Urological Malignancies Programme, is for members of the CRUK Cambridge Centre. A light breakfast of pastries, fruit and hot drinks will be provided.

  • Rationale for kidney cancer screening and how we are taking on the challenge.
Professor Grant Stewart – Urological Malignancies Programme Co-Lead
Every patient with a new kidney cancer asks why they had such vague or no symptoms. This has driven us to assess the potential for a kidney cancer screening programme. In this talk we will discuss the rationale for screening for kidney cancer and our work on this topic to date.

  • PREDICT Kidney: Development, validation and feasibility testing of a new prediction tool to promote informed decision-making about kidney cancer follow-up care.
Dr Hannah Harrison – Public Health Researcher
An introduction to our new NIHR project which aims to improve decision-making during kidney cancer follow-up. A brief outline of how we plan to develop and validate a new model to predict survival after kidney cancer surgery, how we will work with patients and clinicians to implement this model in an online tool and our plans to test the feasibility of using this new tool in urology clinics.

  • Plus special guest Malcolm Packer, CEO of Kidney Cancer UK, talking about his work in the charity sector.

Our breakfast meetings are intended to be informal, quick talks by programme members about their current work. A light breakfast is provided.
