Many congratulations to ECI Group Leader Dr Alex Frankell who has been selected by the Academy of Medical Sciences to receive a 2025 Springboard award.
The awards support early career researchers to drive innovations that improve health and well-being, and this year’s funding of £7.6 million is the largest investment made by the Academy to date.
62 scientists have been selected to receive the awards with research covering not just cancer but topics across the full range of biomedical sciences, from obesity to addiction and beyond.
Each awardee will receive between £100 000 and £125 000. Alex’s award will help to fund his work on developing methods for spatial profiling of somatic evolution.
Alex commented: “I am very grateful for the support that this Springboard award will provide. These ring-fenced opportunities for early-career PIs are hugely helpful to push forward our research at this stage of the lab's development.”
