A study using a Cytosponge test, blood tests and tissue samples to understand more about pre cancer and cancer of the lining of the food pipe (oesophagus).

Oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has a poor prognosis. OSCC is preceded by a condition called squamous dysplasia. If this is diagnosed promptly can we treated with endoscopic treatments to prevent cancer.

OSCAR is a study using capsule on a string test, blood samples and biopsies from dysplasia and early cancer to understand more about the early stage of carcinogenesis and develop novel non-invasive methods to diagnose dysplasia and early cancer.
