Shadi Basyuni of the Nik-Zainal Group at the Early Cancer Institute has been awarded the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons, Faculty of Dental Surgery research fellowship. He will continue his research work at the Institute focused on the genomic determinants of malignant transformation in oral pre-malignant lesions to facilitate the early detection and prevention of oral cancer.
Shadi is a Specialty Trainee in Maxillo-Facial Surgery with a keen interest in education and global health. His clinical and research interest is in head and neck cancer. He is a member of the Genomics England Head and Neck research group as well as founder of FaceForward, an enterprise with Cambridge Global Health Partnerships, which aims to address the surgical needs of the refugee population in Jordan who have sustained facial injuries from conflicts.
