Dr Harveer Dev, CRUK Clinical Lecturer in the Early Detection Programme and Honorary Speciality Registrar in Urology has received one of the 2021 Young Investigator Awards from the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF).
The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) is the world’s leading philanthropic organization dedicated to funding life-saving prostate cancer research, and the aim of the PCF Young Investigator Awards is to identify a cohort of future research leaders who will keep the field of prostate cancer research vibrant with new ideas and offer career and project support for early career physicians and scientists who are committed to advancing the prostate cancer field. Thirty-three PCF Young Investigator Awards totaling close to $6.5 million have been granted to the promising next generation of cancer researchers.
Harveer’s award, the 2021 John Black Charitable Foundation-PCF Young Investigator Award, is entitled “Identifying and overcoming resistance to AR/DDR-targeting therapies using orthogonal single-cell CRISPR and peptide screening platforms”. This work will help to understand the interplay between the AR and DNA repair pathways in early lethal disease, and identify biomarkers of treatment response and resistance.
Harveer commented, “I am delighted to be named in the PCF class of 2021. The Foundation’s impressive track record of funding prostate cancer research means that many more men are alive today than otherwise would be and I am grateful to be given the opportunity to work towards such a worthwhile aim.”
