Congratulations to Dr Andreas Hadjinicolaou who has been announced as the recipient of the Royal College of Physicians and NIHR RDN award in the trainee category for his outstanding contribution to clinical research.
The awards recognise NHS clinicians and trainees who have contributed to the successful delivery of clinical research studies.
Andreas is a Clinical Lecturer in Early Detection of GI cancers at the Early Cancer Institute and Honorary Speciality Registrar in Gastroenterology. His work focuses on identification of biomarkers for early detection of oesophageal and gastric cancers, evaluating endoscopic treatments for early upper GI cancers, improving endoscopic diagnosis of premalignant and malignant upper GI pathologies and understanding predictors of pathology diagnosis, disease progression and treatment response.
Andreas commented “I am thrilled and grateful to have received this award from the Royal College of Physicians and the NIHR Research Delivery Network. For clinical research to succeed, it truly takes a team effort. As such, I would like to thank my colleagues and mentors, without whom my work would not have been possible, and recognise our patients, whose generous participation in research empowers what we do”.
As a winner, in addition to a cash prize, Andreas will attend the RCP New Members Ceremony in April 2025, where his award will be presented in person.
We offer Andreas our warmest congratulations.
