The seminar series from the Early Cancer Institute aims to connect researchers in the early cancer detection and diagnosis space to share knowledge and spark collaboration. Join fellow researchers for lunch and an opportunity to network.

On Wednesday 20th September we welcome Prof Thomas Höfer from the University of Heidelberg / German Cancer Research Center to speak on: ‘Inferring and changing selection in somatic mosaics’.

This event will take place in the Early Cancer Institute, Adrian Way, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge, CB2 0XZ

Thomas Höfer is professor of theoretical systems biology at the University of Heidelberg and heads a research group at the German Cancer Research Center. After studying biology and physics in Berlin, he did his DPhil in applied mathematics with Philip Maini in Oxford, where he was Jowett Senior Scholar at Balliol College from 1994 to 1996.

Thomas then returned to biological research institutes, in Berlin, Paris and, since 2007, in Heidelberg. His group studies the quantitative laws of clonal evolution in hematopoiesis, immune responses and the development of cancer, engaging in fruitful collaborations with experimentalists. In 2020 he was elected fellow of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences.

Lunch is provided from 1pm, the talk will begin at 1.30pm followed by a Q&A.
