We are delighted to have moved back into our beautifully redeveloped building, now known as the Li Ka Shing Early Cancer Institute.
During the redevelopment project, we were temporarily based in the Clifford Allbutt Building and, throughout the month of June, our facilities and removals teams have worked tirelessly to coordinate the complex relocation of laboratory equipment, including high-value microscopy and imaging systems, as well as numerous large -80°C freezers.
Our new Institute is now a state-of-the-art facility, providing a fitting environment for our world-class research. The ground floor features an open-access café hub, creating a welcoming space for informal meetings and social interaction. Alongside this, there are flexible meeting rooms capable of accommodating both in-person and hybrid events for up to 80 people.
The upper floors house modern wet and dry labs, complemented by dedicated write-up and administrative areas. An increased number of small meeting rooms and private spaces for online meetings reflects the way we work today, supporting both collaboration and focused individual work.
The building has also been designed with wellbeing in mind. Attractive planting throughout the interior and a carefully controlled indoor climate create a comfortable and pleasant working environment for staff and visitors alike.

We are planning an official opening of the only Institute in the UK dedicated to early cancer research. Details of the grand opening will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
